Privacy Policy
Overview
At Qikr, we are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your information. This Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy” or the “Policy) outlines:
How we collect and store your data, why we collect it, and the legal grounds on which our collection is based
How and why we use your data and which whom it is disclosed
Your rights to your data, including your ability to access your information, rectify incorrect information, and delete your information
This Policy applies to all products and services offered by Qikr AI (henceforth referred to as “Qikr”, “we”, “us”, “our”). This Policy applies to all avenues in which you access and use Qikr’s services, including through qikr.ai (the “Qikr Website”), your school’s Learning Management System with which Qikr has been integrated (e.g Canvas, Google Classroom, etc.) or any of our other products and services that link to this Privacy Policy (referred to collectively as the “Service”). This Privacy Policy additionally covers collection, storage, and usage of any further information shared with us about our users from our partners and other services.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to websites, services, or practices of companies that Qikr does not own or control, such as third-party websites you might access through links on the Service. These websites have their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review them before providing them with your information. For a complete list of third-party service providers that we use, see the Third-Party Service Providers section of this Policy.
Qikr participates in the iKeepSafe Safe Harbor program. If you have any questions or need to file a complaint related to our privacy policy and practices, please do not hesitate to contact the iKeepSafe Safe Harbor program at COPPAprivacy@ikeepsafe.org.

Third-Party Operator
Amazon Web Services, Inc (AWS)
Personal information (names, email addresses, passwords) is managed via AWS Cognito for secure account registration and management. Usage information and user-provided information (AI conversation history, uploaded files) are stored in AWS S3 and DynamoDB. These services allow us to organize users by school, generate teacher insights, maintain the security of the platform, and more. AI-powered learning tools and assistants are powered by Anthropic Claude, which is provided to us through AWS Bedrock. AWS and Qikr do not use personal information contained in inputs, prompts, or outputs submitted by any users to train AI models. Students’ personal information given to Qikr is never disclosed for the purpose of training artificial intelligence.
What is Qikr?
Qikr is a multimodal educational platform that helps schools streamline administrative work and helps teachers provide AI-powered learning to their students. Teachers can use Qikr to create AI teaching assistants catered to their courses for their students to interact with and learn from. Teachers are also able to create lesson plans, assessments, and more using Qikr’s suite of AI tools. Students can share their conversation with their teachers to demonstrate learning or give feedback on the AI assistants.
Students are unable to register for or use Qikr’s services without being given a unique link or code from their teacher. As explained below in the “Consent” section of this Privacy Policy, Qikr relies on school consent in an educational context with students under the age of 13, in accordance with both COPPA and FERPA regulations. No teachers or school members will be able to generate unique links or codes unless they or their school consciously agree to this Policy by reading and accepting the Privacy Policy notice given prior to signing up.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal, usage, and user-provided information:
To be informed of how Qikr uses your information
To request a copy of your information, and to have any incorrect personal information corrected
To have your information deleted, subject to legal obligations
To opt out from marketing communications or data collection for certain purposes
Qikr will use commercially reasonable efforts to provide you with access to your personal information (to the extent we are in possession of any) if you submit your request for access via an email to support@qikrai.com. Students who wish to access and modify their personal information must have an educator or institution submit a request on their behalf. A student may also log in to their account and review the content they submitted to Qikr and the data they shared therein.
Parents have the right to review, have deleted, or refuse to permit further collection use of their child’s information. If you want to do any of these things, please contact your child’s school directly, or email support@qikrai.com.
The educator or institution may access, modify, or delete the student’s information and any user-generated content by submitting a request internally to Qikr or through an email to support@qikrai.com.
We strive for transparency around what information we collect and how it is used. If you have further questions about this that are not addressed in this Policy, please email support@qikrai.com.
Change of Purpose
Qikr will only use your information for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason which is compatible with the original purpose. If we need to use your information for reasons other than what is listed here, we will notify you and explain the legal basis that allows us to do so.
Over time, Qikr may grow and reorganize. We may share your information, including personal information, with affiliates such as a parent company, subsidiaries, joint venture partners, or other companies that we control or that are under common control with us, in which case we will require those companies to agree to use your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
In the event of a change to our organizations such that all or a portion of Qikr or its assets are acquired by or merged with a third-party, or in any other situation where personal information that we have collected from users would be one of the assets transferred to or acquired by that third-party, this Privacy Policy will continue to apply to your information, and any acquirer would only be able to handle your personal information as per this Policy (unless you give consent to a new Policy). We will provide you with notice of an acquisition within thirty (30) days following the completion of such a transaction, by posting on our homepage and by email to your email address that you provided to us. If you do not consent to the use of your personal information by such a successor company, subject to applicable law, you may request its deletion from the company.
In the unlikely event that Qikr goes out of business, or files for bankruptcy, we will protect your personal information, and will not sell it to any third-party.
Consent
If you are a teacher or school representative, or use the Service on behalf of a company or other organization, note that Qikr provides its service upon explicit consent given by you upon signup. Prior to signing up, we will invite you to read our Terms and Conditions and this Privacy Policy. When signing up, you declare that you have read such documents and consent to them, and can withdraw your consent at any time by sending a deletion request to support@qikrai.com.
Educational institutions using the Service must monitor the rights and interests of their students and must take special care when reviewing the Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy.
U.S. Educational Institutions and Parental Consent: In the United States, the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) requires online service providers like Qikr to obtain verifiable parental consent and provide parents with a direct notice before collecting, using, or disclosing personal information from children under the age of 13, except in limited scenarios. Such a limited scenario takes place when using Qikr in an educational context (i.e. using Qikr for the use and benefit of the school and for no other commercial purpose). In this educational context, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) allows educators, schools, and school districts (collectively “School/s” or “Educational Institution/s”) to act as the parent’s agent and consent to the collection of students’ personal information on the parent’s behalf (this is commonly referred to as “School Consent”). In order for Qikr to rely on School Consent, Qikr must provide Educational Institutions with the same type of direct notice regarding its practices (as to the collection, use, or disclosure of personal information from children) as it would otherwise provide to the parent. Where required, including in connection with children’s personal information processed in the educational context, Qikr may provide feature-specific or supplemental privacy notices to schools or districts acting as the parent’s agent in order to provide more detailed information about how certain Service features operate, what categories of personal information they use, how long such information is retained, and which service providers support them. This process ensures that educators are fully informed when they use Qikr for educational purposes. At the same time, yet subject to exceptions, FERPA prohibits schools from disclosing personally identifiable information from a student's education record to a third party without written consent from the parent or eligible student. Typically, schools are exempted from obtaining parental consent under FERPA when Qikr is identified as a "school official," meaning Qikr is performing an institutional service or function for which the school would otherwise use its own employees. Qikr complies with both COPPA and FERPA regulations when it comes to parental consent required to utilize the Service in an educational context. Please note, however, that the previous statements do not constitute legal advice, and we recommend you seek guidance from the school’s designated legal counsel if you have any concerns or inquiries regarding compliance with COPPA, FERPA, and other applicable privacy regulations.
You have the right to refuse the collection of your personal information at any time, and may exercise this right by not creating an account to use the Service, or terminating your account through an email to support@qikrai.com. However, please be aware that Qikr requires certain information (such as a name, email address, and unique access code) to provide a secure and functional experience. If you choose to refuse data collection or later withdraw your consent, you will be unable to create an account and the Service will not be operational for your use. For students specifically, refusal to provide the minimum required information means they will not be able to interact with AI-powered assistants or participate in classroom activities hosted on the Service.
Privacy Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date. We won’t reduce your rights under this Privacy Policy without your explicit consent. If we make any significant changes, we will provide prominent notice by notifying users of Qikr and the Qikr website, as well as sending an email to all institutions using their provided email addresses at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy from time to time, as well as when notified of an upcoming policy change, in order to stay informed about Qikr’s collection, use, and disclosure of personal information. If you disagree with any changes made to this Privacy Policy, you may terminate your account. If you have any questions or want to learn more about how we protect your privacy, please send an email to support@qikrai.com. By using Qikr’s services, you indicate your acceptance and agreement to the current version of the Privacy Policy.
Student Privacy and Protection
Student Information
Qikr collects the minimum amount of information needed for students to create accounts on our Service and successfully use the Service.
To create accounts, students provide their first and last name, an email address, a password, and a unique code or link their teacher provides for access to a specific course or AI-powered assistant. Notably, for use of the Service integrated into a LMS, students do not provide any of the above information, as their accounts are created automatically through their LMS and can only be used inside of said LMS.
To use the Service, students will submit messages, queries, and files containing text or images to the assistants their teachers create, all of which are stored in our system to create a “conversation history” for students to view at any time. By default, all conversation histories and the contents therein are kept hidden from all other users, visible only to the individual students. Students may, however, choose to share specific conversations with their teachers, allowing them access to see all messages and files that were exchanged between the students and the AI-powered assistants. This shared access is unique to each conversation and can be revoked by the student at any time. Notably, while students can send messages to and upload files to existing assistants, they are not able to make any assistants for themselves or other students, nor are they able to share conversations with any user except for the teacher who created the assistant.
In addition to the information entered by the student, we automatically collect some information from any use of the Service as defined in the “Usage Information” section.
We use this information to provide and improve (as permitted by applicable privacy regulations) the Service to the student, for security and safety purposes, or as required by law or to enforce our Terms. We will not require students to provide more personal information than is reasonably necessary in order to participate in the Service. If we discover that we have collected information from a student in a manner inconsistent with COPPA, FERPA, or any other applicable laws or regulations, we will take appropriate steps to delete the information. We do not disclose any personal information about children to third parties, except to third-party service providers necessary to provide the Service, as permitted by law, or to protect the security of the Service or other users. Information collected from students (including personal information and information collected automatically) is never used or disclosed for third-party advertising, including any kind of first-party or third-party behaviorally targeted advertising, and children’s personal information is never sold or rented to anyone, including marketers or advertisers.
No student’s information is made available or visible to the public or to any other students through Qikr. Student user accounts cannot interact with other student user accounts, nor can they interact with social media. Interaction of student user accounts is limited solely to the provided AI-powered assistants and with their teachers, should they choose to share any conversations with them. Teachers have access to their students’ personal information and basic numbers such as how many conversations and messages they have sent. Teachers will also receive weekly AI-powered insights via email containing de-identified data about their students’ conversation habits, topics, and strengths and weaknesses. Teachers may share their classes or assistants with other teachers for demonstration or collaboration purposes.
Educational institutions and teachers shall make a responsible effort to avoid compromising students’ personal information at all times when displaying Qikr in the classroom. Qikr shall not be held liable for inappropriate use of the Service by the educational institution or the teacher.
Student Information Retention
We only keep student personal information for as long as the student account is active, unless we are required by law to retain it, need it to ensure the security of our Service, or to enforce our Terms and Conditions.
Consistent with the requirements of FERPA and COPPA in the United States, among other applicable laws, we only collect, use, share, and retain student personal information for purposes for which we were authorized by the educational institution/agency, teacher or the student.
If a student’s account is inactive for eighteen (18) months or more (meaning the student has not logged-in to his or her account), Qikr will automatically delete the student account, including all personal information provided by the student or collected by Qikr from the student. The mentioned eighteen (18) month term has been calculated in accordance with the estimated use of the Service, which usually coincides with an entire school year, plus an additional period of time in case teachers want to renew the use of the Service.
School officials may request deletion of student accounts at any time by reaching out to support@qikrai.com. Qikr shall be entitled to require assistance and collaboration from the educational institution as reasonably necessary in order to appropriately attend the deletion request.
After deletion, we may retain and use anonymized data for purposes of research, improvement of our products and services, and/or the development of new products and services. We will not, and it is also contractually agreed upon by our Third-party Service Providers, re-identify or attempt to re-identify any anonymized data. We may also have to retain some information after your account is deleted, to comply with legal obligations, to protect the safety and security of our community or our Service, or to prevent abuse of our Terms and Conditions. Qikr is not responsible for data loss resulting from actions taken by users. If a user deletes data, Qikr is not required to restore it from backups. This does not limit Qikr’s obligations to maintain appropriate data security measures in accordance with applicable law.
Any parents that want copies of their children’s personal information that we may have stored can contact their children’s school personnel to that end. At any time, the school can also refuse to permit us to collect further personal information from its students, and can request that we delete the personal information we have collected from them by contacting us at support@qikrai.com. Please keep in mind that deleting records may require us to terminate the account in question. Also remember that before we can share the information with the school, or delete it per your request, we will, by reasonable means, proceed to verify the identity of the requester.
User Information
Information We Collect
We collect different types of information from all users, including academic faculty and students. The types and amounts of information collected will vary depending on whether the user is school faculty or a student and how they use the Service.
Personal information is any data you provide to us that personally identifies you, like your name or your email address, or any other information that we could reasonably link to your identity. We will only use and share your personal information in accordance with this Policy. The personal information we collect includes, but is not limited to names, email addresses, school names, and other contact details provided during account creation or communication with Qikr. In addition, we may collect phone numbers and other contact methods, payment information, class information, disability information from schools, school districts, and academic faculty only.
Qikr does not encourage users of any age to make their personal information publicly available, and there are no means of doing so through Qikr.
Usage information is data about your device that tells us how you are accessing Qikr. This information includes but is not limited to your IP address, the type of browser you use, your operating system, whether you use the Qikr Website or your LMS, and various details about your interactions with our services such as the pages in Qikr you visit, the features you use, and how long you spend using Qikr. We also make use of your browser’s local storage to store a session token that may be used by your browser to identify you and remember your preferences on subsequent visits to the Service. We may also use, collect and store information locally on your device using mechanisms such as browser web storage. This information is used to maintain the security and operation of the Service, prevent misuse, and improve functionality. The above identifiers are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. We do not sell your information or use it for behavioral advertising.
User-provided information is data that users share with AI assistants and tools, either in a school’s or teacher’s capacity (e.g. uploading files to assistant knowledge bases, holding test conversations with assistants) or in a student’s capacity (e.g. conversing with teacher-made assistants, uploading files to assistants in conversation). We collect content, queries, or files that you upload to or use to interact with our AI assistants and tools, as well as feedback or survey responses that are submitted through our platform. All data transmitted to Qikr through these means remains your individual property. All rights, including all intellectual property rights, shall also remain your exclusive property. Notably, Qikr does not offer any method of speech-to-text conversion natively, nor do we support uploading audio or video files to AI assistants in conversation.
Information Usage
Qikr does not sell or otherwise monetize the transfer of any of your personal, usage, or user-provided information, or your students’ information, to any third party for any purpose, including for advertising or marketing purposes. The data we collect is used for the express purposes of providing the Service and to continuously improve your experience with Qikr. Specifically, personal information is collected for the following purposes:
To create accounts for the Service
To provide teachers with analytics on student usage
To send email updates to teachers (e.g. notifications of successful/failed assistant creation, weekly AI-powered insights, reminders of unpublished or unused assistants, upcoming changes to the Service or this Privacy Policy)
Usage information is collected for the following purposes:
To assess user circumstances and device capabilities for business analytics
To maintain security and operation of the Service (e.g. prevent excessive internet traffic, monitor potential fraudulent activity)
User-provided information is collected for the following purposes:
To create a knowledge base for AI-powered assistants to act as teaching assistants for courses, answer student questions, and promote learning and critical thinking skills outside of the classroom
To generate artifacts for academic use (e.g. lesson plans, assessments)
To enable AI assistants to respond to students’ specific needs and questions
To ensure our Service is used in accordance with our Terms and Conditions and complies with applicable laws and regulations
To enhance the performance, effectiveness, and usability of the Service
Information Retention
We retain your personal data and User Content only for as long as necessary to provide our services and comply with legal obligations. You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting support@qikrai.com. Upon account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Chat history and AI interaction logs may be retained in anonymized form for service improvement purposes. Please note that in the absence of an account deletion request , we will delete or de-identify data after an inactive period of 18 months in accordance with our standard data retention policies.
Data Security
We and our third-party service providers implement industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption, secure servers, and access controls.
Information Sharing
As stated before, Qikr does not and will not sell or rent any personal information, usage information, or user-provided information to any third party for any purpose, including for advertising or marketing purposes. Furthermore, we do not share any of the above information with any third parties except in the circumstances described below:
Other Users: No student information is made available to the general public through our Service. Furthermore, students cannot share their account information with anyone through Qikr. Students can only share their conversation information with teachers of their course that own the assistant they were having conversations with. Information generated within the platform—such as conversations with AI assistants, uploaded files, or feedback—is private to the student, unless they choose to share a specific conversation with their teacher. Teachers can view student analytics and shared conversations to provide instruction and feedback. If you are a teacher you may choose to share information, content, or assistants through the Service with other teachers on Qikr. Teachers may also choose to share AI-generated artifacts (like lesson plans or assessments) with other faculty members; however, student personal information is not included in these shared instructional materials. Please keep in mind that information (including personal information or children’s personal information) or content that you voluntarily share with others can be viewed, copied, stored, and used by the people you share it with. We cannot control the actions of the people you share information with.
Third-Party Links in Our Service: When, as a teacher, you choose to include a link to a public facing website in an assistant’s knowledge base, the link may appear cited in conversations with students. If a student chooses to click the link you added to the assistant’s knowledge base, they will be leaving the Qikr platform and will not be under our Privacy Policy. There is no active data sharing between Qikr and any third-party website linked in conversation. Similarly, Qikr does not include any advertising on its platform. However, if a teacher includes a website in a knowledge base, that website may display behavioral or contextual advertising. We are not responsible for third-party website privacy practices, and we encourage you to review the policies of any website you choose to include in your knowledge bases.
Third-Party Service Providers: We work with third-party vendors and service providers to help us provide the Service. We may share information (including personal information) with them so they can perform specific business functions on our behalf, such as database hosting, accounts registration, and security. For a complete list of our third-party service providers, their functions, and the information they may access, please see this page.
Distributors, Resellers, and other Partners: We may, now or in the future, work with distributors, resellers and other partners to assist in the commercialization and sale of our products in your country or region. In such cases, we may share information (e.g. contact information) with them to provide you with appropriate assistance and/or services.
Testimonials: We post testimonials on our Service which may contain personal information such as the name, photo and/or a video of the individual in the testimonial. We obtain the individual’s consent in advance to ensure we have permission to post this content publicly. To request removal of your personal information from our testimonials, please contact us at support@qikrai.com.
Aggregated Information and De-Identified Information: We may share aggregated or de-identified information with users or partners to demonstrate how Qikr is used or provide marketing materials. Any information shared in this way will not contain any personal information. If we choose to share this information with any third party, we will take the necessary steps to ensure the third party will not re-identify the information through any means.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose personal information if we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to comply with the law, such as responding to a subpoena or legal process. We may also disclose information to protect the safety of our users, prevent fraud, or enforce our Terms and Conditions.
With Your Consent: Other than the discussed cases above, we will not disclose your information for any purpose unless you consent to its disclosure. As a reminder: we will never sell or rent your personal information to advertisers or third parties.
Information Protection
Your Qikr account is protected by a password. You can help prevent unauthorized access by keeping your password secret at all times. We periodically review our information collection, storage, and processing practices to protect against unauthorized access to our systems. Personal information you enter into the Service is protected by AWS protocols at all times.
Data Breach Statement
We implement industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption, secure servers, and access controls. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. If Qikr AI becomes aware of a systems security breach by an unauthorized party or that any user data was used for an unauthorized purpose, we will comply with relevant state and other data breach laws. We will notify users of any breach resulting in unauthorized release of data electronically, at minimum, and without unreasonable delay so that you can take appropriate steps. The notification will include: date of the breach, the types of information that were subject to the breach, general description of what occurred, and steps Qikr AI is taking to address the breach.
